Controling DOF

One of the things that distinguishes the photos taken with proper cameras from the basic digital ones is having more and controlled DOF (depth of field). Basically by having a more blurred background not only you create a nice effect for your photo but also avoid the distraction caused by too much details behind your subject.

By having control over the aperture (In optics, an aperture is a hole or an opening through which light travels “source wikipedia) you can create more depth of field and the smaller the aperture number the deeper the depth of field and vice versa. just don’t forget that when the aperture size is bigger the shutter speed needs to be slower to let more light to come in so you may not be able to take pictures with very fast movements.
